A Rock Like A Penis In China

120 0

China offers endless travel possibilities and its well off the beaten track for the most part. There are not a lot of English speakers in the world’s largest country but that doesn’t matter – the place is fantastic. There’s a really good scenic spot north of Shaoguan in the Guangdong Province that is worth checking out. It’s a hike up to a rock shaped like a man’s penis! Yes this is penis rock! [[I:http:http://localhost/fas.com//wp-content/uploads/2015/04/JonnyBlair8.jpg]]

What is dick rock/the yang yuan rock?

It is a rock in the shape of a man’s willy! You can call it whatever you want but it looks like a big dick in the landscape and that’s exactly why it’s famous!

Accessibility is easy if you’re Chinese – if you’re not, then get ready for a tiring adventure to find Penis Rock. Luckily with my girlfriend being fluent in both Chinese languages, it was easy for us to get to Penis Rock.

Start off by getting to Shaoguan city, this is a massive city in north Guangdong, the province in China. You can get there easily by high speed rail. China’s high speed and normal train network is extensive so you will have no problems. The bus from Shaoguan out to the mountains will be the trickier journey.

When visiting Danxiashan you should stay in the village of Yao Tang up in the mountains. You can get a hotel there easily and it is also near another small village called Jin Jiang. This is where the walk to penis rock starts.

An entrance ticket is needed and you can get them at the ticket office in front of the gate – they cost 120 RMB. They are valid for 2 days.

A map of the area of Danxiashan. I don’t think English ones are available as there are simply no English speaking people about, nor any non-Chinese people. But then why should they have English maps? This is China don’t forget! You don’t see a map of my hometown of Bangor in Northern Ireland translated into Chinese now do you?

The view from the top of the Pavilion is outstanding. On the other side you view an incredible sunset from the top of a Fortress. Finally I had to do at least one funny photo when I was there at Penis Rock. The Chinese are such a shy race when it comes to sex, nudity and willies, this photo attracted more odd looks than laughs!

What is there? A rock that is shaped like a huge willy!

Why Go There? Amazing shaped rock formations, fantastic sunset, cheap beer, good hiking and walking, incredible views.

Rough daily cost – Under $10 US
