Located about twenty-five km west of the Red Deer city, Sylvan Lake is a peaceful and beautiful Central Alberta town. Sylvan Lake is actually a 15 km long freshwater lake located in Red Deer County. The lake is a popular tourist attraction which sees millions of tourists from all around Alberta each year.

Things To Do In Sylvan Lake

There are fun activities to do no matter what time of the year you come to Sylvan Lake. In winter, enjoy the winter fun with activities such as winter speed skating, winterfest. In summer, there are lots of activities to do on the lake such as sailing, jet skiing, water sports. If you’re a golf lover, make sure to play a few rounds of golf. Sylvan Lake has some very gorgeous golf courses such as the Meadowlands Golf Club, Top O’ the Hill Golf Course.

With relatively cold and snowy winters, cool springs and mild summers, the climate in Sylvan Lake is said to be climate. It has average temperature of about 14.6 degrees in winter and 15.7 degrees in summer. It rains about 398.3 millimetres or 15.68 inches and snows approximately 158.2 centimetres every year.

The population of 13,327 people makes it one of the most populous towns in the province in 2013. Young people (19 years old or under) occupy 33.2% and the retired are about 6.7%. Hence, the city has quite young population.

It has no broadcast television stations of its own, but does receive broadcast news from Edmonton at all three of the big channels. There are no radio stations in Sylvan Lake, but it does receive signals from Red Deer to keep listeners up-to-date and happy.
